Police & fire station shown on 1896 1:500 OS map, still on 1916/1919 1:2500 OS map

- This was always one physical building, but there has been a demarcation line on OS maps throughout the years until 1968 dividing the building into Police Station (on the North elevation) and Fire Station (the West elevation).
- There seems to be a gap between the Western elevation being listed as a Fire Station and it being shown later as CD HQ. I suspect this is because Headlam Street and Pilgrim Street Stations opened in Byker and Newcastle City Centre respectively, although I can't be fully sure. However, interestingly OS also omitted identifying the Police Station during the same period, re-appearing again on the 1968 map. |
